On the 5th November in the village Gatne of Kiev-Svyatoshyn district was held reinterment of 125 soldiers of Red Army, who died during the Defense of Kiev in 1941.

20 soldiers were identified by search group “Dnepr-Ukraine”, among whom was Timofey Shamrylo – a member of Kiev Defense Staff, secretary of Town Committee of CPU, deputy of High Council of USSR of first convocation. All information in open sources about him was very short and laconic, like ‘missing from 1941’. There was nothing but his portrait even in The National Museum Of Great Patriotic War. Only after almost 70 years the place of death of Timofey Shamrylo was found, thanks to archeological group.

On the ceremony were invited relatives of fallen soldiers, war veterans and their families. Personal belongings of the dead had been solemnly handed over to the relatives. To commemorate the defenders of Kiev a church service and a firework were held.

The park and memorial will be built on the place of reburial before the 9th May, 2012.
